Trump Taj Mahal Poker Room Profile

The Trump Taj Mahal has over 100 tables, making it the biggest poker room in Atlantic City. It’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and you can find seven-card stud poker, a few Omaha poker games, and of course, plenty of Texas Hold'em poker games, both limit and no-limit, to sit down and play at anytime.

The majority of tables at the Taj spread Texas Hold'em, but there are also more seven-card stud tables than at any room in Vegas. The lowest limits have the most tables -- with tons of $2-4 & $3-6 limit Hold'em, $1-2 No-limit Hold'em and $1-5 seven-card stud tables. On an average night, there are two Omaha tables going on. They also spread plenty of higher limit games, ranging from $5-10 limit Hold'em to $300-$600 seven-card stud games.

Go to the main desk at the front of the room and tell the host what poker game you'd like to play and at what limits. They’ll put down your initials and call them when they’ve got a seat. To sign up for tournaments, head to the rear of the room to sign up. There is usually a short wait on nights and weekends for limit games, but it goes fast, so it’s a good idea to head to the cashier while you’re waiting and get a rack of chips.

Friday-Sunday at 10:15 am: $80+$20 buy-in No-limit Texas Hold'em

Friday at 3:15 pm: $80+$20 buy-in Omaha hi/lo

Friday at 6:15 pm: $200+$25 buy-in No-limit Texas Hold'em

Saturday & Sunday at 6:15: $300+$30 buy-in No-limit Texas Hold'em

The Taj was the first place I ever played poker in a casino, so it will always have a special place in my heart. But it’s remained my favorite because of the amazing variety of poker games, the reliably good dealers, and the diverse crowd that comes.

I’ve only played in one tournament at the Taj, but I had a good experience, and from other poker players I’ve heard few complaints and much praise about the staff and tournaments.

Many poker pros have called the Taj their poker home, including Cyndy Violette & Phil Ivey, who started playing there. It was also featured in the poker movie Rounders.
