World Poker Tour 5 Diamond Classic at the Bellagio
Sunday December 17, 2006
While I was in Vegas, the 5 Diamond Classic had begun with smaller events, but sadly, I couldn't stay for the big no-limit Hold'em main event which is going on now. And it looks like quite an event full of poker pros at their best.
Today there are 136 players left of the 583 who began, and they'll start on the third day of play. Clonie Gowen (left) is in 3rd place with 346,100 in chips, and she's followed close behind by front-runner for Cardplayer Player of the Year Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi who has 343,700 in chips. And just behind him is Scott Fischman with 340,000 chips! And of course, I'm always glad to see Daniel Negreanu in the top 20, and he is, at 14th in chips. Also still in it at the top of the heap (all with over 100,000 in chips) are Michael Binger, David Benyamine, Mike Matusow, Chau Giang, Kristy Gazes, Joseph Hachem, and Chip Reese. To name a few! A very tough field indeed which should make for a very interesting day.
