Jamie Gold Wins Main Event of World Series of Poker
Friday August 11, 2006
Jamie Gold, a hollywood producer and agent, has won the 2006 World Series of Poker main event, $12 million dollars, and the gold bracelet. This was Gold's first year at the WSOP, and only his second event -- before the main event, he played in the $5,000 no-limit event. At the main event, Gold became the chip leader on Day 4 of the Main Event and kept it all the way to the final table, where he was unstoppable and took home the largest prize ever in poker.
According to Pauly, Gold said of his win, "I couldn't have done this without the support of the people in my life. I'm a very needy person. And they helped me out a lot over the last few days getting me water and massages and blueberries."
Who knew that blueberries were so key to poker success. I'm betting Gold will have no problem keeping himself stocked in blueberries from now on.
