45 Remain at the World Series of Poker Main Event
Monday August 7, 2006
Over the weekend, while most relaxed, the World Series of Poker was in full swing and the original field of over 8,800 narrowed down to just 45 men. All the women in the event were eliminated, including Annie Duke, who finished an impressive 88th, Cyndy Violette, Kathy Liebert and the final female, Sabyl Cohen who was knocked out 56th. Also gone are all the former main event champs, with Joseph Hachem lasting the longest, but falling on Day 4. Today, on Day 6, they'll play until they get to 27. Could be a short day.
The only pros I'm really familiar with who are still in it are Allen Cunnigham and Humberto Brenes, and Brenes is towards the bottom of the remaining heap. Click on 'Read more' to see who the top 10 in chips are as of today.
