Chip Leaders at the WSOP After Day 1s

From Toby Bochan, About.com GuideAugust 1, 2006

Today at the World Series of Poker Main Event, the first of two Day 2s will begin, combining the remaining players from Day 1A & Day 1B. Tommorrow, the players from Day 1C & Day 1D will meet at Day 2 number 2 or Day 2B. Got it? One thing that's interesting is that when the two days meet, the chip leads and counts will shift radically in some cases. Take a look:

Chip Leaders Day 1A
  • Leader: Ken Jacobs 119,100
  • Notable: 10th place: Mark Vos 85,375
Chip Leaders Day 1B
  • Leader: Alex Melnikow 94,350
  • Notables:8th place David Chiu 78,225
  • 10th place Allen Cunningham 77,625
Chip Leaders Day 1C Chip Leaders Day 1D For instance, while Negreanu is 17th in chips on his day, he'd be in at least 9th place in chips on any other day. Day 1D's leader, Peter Tran, is the overall chip leader. I'm looking forward to Friday when these split days of play end, the field narrows to one big field, and Day 3 begins. All these numbers hurt my head. And I'm not even playing!
