Zak Penn's Poker Movie "The Grand"
Now that Zak Penn has a hit on his hand with the latest "X-Men", it seems he's gotten the financing he needs to make "The Grand," an improvised poker flick that he's been working on. There's quite a cast already connected to the movie, including Ray Liotta, Woody Harrelson (whose character is called "One Eyed Jack" according to IMDB), Cheryl Hines, Ray Romano, David Cross, David Schwimmer, Jeff Goldblum, Warner Herzog, and Jason Alexander who has been a winner on Celebrity Poker Showdown at least. "The Grand" will have only an outline, and the actors will improvise most of the dialogue as they play real poker... on their way to a fake tournament. Shooting is set to begin later this summer. Penn told Variety, "A lot of actors were intrigued by this, because they are naturally competitive. And the fact that poker has become this crazy phenomenon isn't unhelpful to us."
Now my only question for Penn is: What, no Ben Affleck?
