Looking Bad for the Poker Pros at the World Series
Saturday July 9, 2005
Most of the pros I thought I'd be watching for in the Main Event of the WSOP have busted out of the $10,000 No-Limit Tournament. Notable bustouts via the Tao of Poker Live Blog:
Daniel Negreanu, Todd Brunson, Tobey Maguire, Oliver Hudson, Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke, Erin Ness, Robert Varkonyi, Erick Lindgren, Melissa Hayden, Men the Master, Evelyn Ng, Greg Mueller, Perry Friedman, Max Pescatori, Barny Boatman, Senthil Kumar, David Williams, Johnny World Hennigan, Eli Elerza, Dewey Tomko, Mimi Rogers, Allen Cunningham, Phil Gordon, Cyndy Violette, Hasan Habib, David Levi, Miami John, and Juha Helppi.
Looks like Phil Hellmuth won't catch up to Doyle Bruson and Johnny Chan's 10 bracelets and will have to pout his way home with the same old 9.
Also, somehow I missed that Chris Ferguson busted out on day 1(a) of the World Series of Poker. Still in it? The previous two WSOP champs, Greg Raymer and Chris Moneymaker. We'll see if pros like Doyle Brunson make it through the third and final "first day" of play, 1(c).
More: The full list of who's still in it from Las Vegas and Poker Blog.
Poll: Will a Pro or an Amateur Win the WSOP?
